I have been bookkeeping, both in the UK and New Zealand, for 15 years now, and I still get a huge buzz out of helping people make sense of their business finances. I first came across 'keeping the books' when I managed pubs in the south of England, and soon realised there were many landlords out there who were far happier to drink the profits than find out what they actually were...
I have learned over the years that everyone runs their own businesses differently, and many owners are so focused on the service they provide, or the product they are selling, the numbers get pushed to the bottom of the list of priorities. Until, of course, the rent needs paying!
So I have built my business on listening to what you want from yours, and then giving you a number-crunching service to match it. We offer everything from 'how-do-I?' advice, to the full "I really dont want to know - you do it" service. We are not Qualified Accountants (which we consider a bonus), we dont talk Accountants-Speak gobbldy-gook (although we can when we have to), and we dont charge accountants prices.
What we can do is help you, the small business owner, try and make sense of all those bank statements, paid and unpaid bills, GST and PAYE returns, and end of year financial reports from your Accountant. And with a bit of numbercrunching, maybe even turn the business round in the right direction. We've been there ourselves, and have experience of hundreds of local small businesses, so we can usually see what you're doing right - or wrong.
